Look At Frosty Go

Good morning!  On this muggy day I thought I might share a card that makes you think about colder days.  Yep, it's a Christmas card.  It was made with a few challenges in mind.  I'll share those at the end of the post.  Here's my card...

So, I decided to go with a mostly kraft card again.  I stamped the sentiment (by Prickly Pear) and embossed in white.  Then I stamped my flourishes (Inkadinkado) and snowflakes (Recollections) and also embossed in white.  I was trying to make it seem like Frosty just took off in a cloud of snowy dust.  :-).  Lastly, I attached my kraft panel to a white card base with foam dots.it's simple but I think it's kind of fun.  :-)

Here's the challenges I'm linking up to:

Festive Friday - Love the inspiration photo this time around!  I was inspired by the brown of the basket and pine cones and the white.  All that white made me think of snow.

Christmas Cards all Year Long - make a card in non traditional colours
Less is More - anything goes

Well, hope you all have a super day and thanks for stopping by!  :-)

A Halloween Card? What?

I know it seems weird to see a Halloween card in July but it's really not that far off and I've been seeing them pop up in blog land lately.  So I was inspired to make this card for the current Little Tangles challenge.

Take a look....

So, the challenge was to use stencils which I did with my background,  I use a The Crafters Workshop/Balzer Designs stencil called mini echoes.  I stenciled a pale blue pigment based ink on black paper. I like the effect.  My main image panel was made using the large dotted circle stamp from the Party Dots set by N & T.  I stamped it on watercolour paper with broken china distress ink and then sprayed it with water letting it run and spread.  Looks like a moon now doesn't it?  I used a brush to move some more ink around for the sky and added some black watercolour pencil as well.  I hand drew the bats with a black glitter gel pen.  I love how this turned out.  It's funny how you can look at a stamp for a while and suddenly see something you never would have guessed before.  :-)

Well, I hope this finds you all well and having the most lovely of days!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Flip Flop Summer

Good morning everyone!  It's going to be another hot one today here in NB.  We've had some pretty hot and humid days this summer.  I prefer a little bit cooler with less humidity.  It's just all kinds of wrong to sit still and sweat buckets!  Oh well.  Could be worse.  :-)

I have a card to share today that, to me, shouts summer!  Take a look...

This is how I made it.  I cut and tore a piece of kraft paper to my desired size and then splattered it with black, white, brown and gold acrylic paint.  This makes it really look like sand.  Then I cut and tore some vellum pieces which I then tinted with a light blue (TB1) Spectrum Noir marker.  I attached sand and water to my white card base.  The flip flops are a free digi by Neat and Tangled and can be found HERE.  I printed them off, coloured them with my Spectrum Noir markers (CT4, OR1, OR3), fussy cut them out and added some gold glitter to the hearts.  I attached to my card raising one with foam dots.  Then I stamped my sentiment which is by Paper Smooches.

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

STAMPlorations - the July monthly challenge is stamps and glitter.
Spectrum Noir - July monthly Facebook challenge is Summer

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous day and thanks for visiting!

A Doggie Thank You

So, just a quick post to link up my card to CAS-ology's current challenge.  Nothing like the last minute!  I needed a card to give to my neighbour's......well, dogs.  LOL.  Recently, here in New Brunswick, we experienced the leftovers from Hurricane Arthur and the winds were so strong they toppled trees and even ripped some out of the ground.  They estimate in the Fredericton area alone about 4000 trees gone.  Crazy.  Needless, to say some of those trees found their way to lie upon or take out completely the power lines.  We were without power for about 54 hours.  Some people were out for a week.  I think there actually may be still a handful without.  Terrible.  Anyway, it was our grocery shopping weekend when it happened and we needed some dog food desperately but the stores were closed due to the power outage.  Soooo, my neighbour has two dogs, Gracie and Star, and was kind enough to give us some dog food to tide us over until we could get some.  So, I made this card for the dogs from our puppy, Summer.  Also, gave them some treats.  :-)  Here's the card...

I used an old All Night Media stamp for the dog paw prints and a NBUS Studio G thank you stamp.  Added some twine and called it done!  Thought it would be perfect for CAS-ology's challenge where their cue card is PET.

Well, that's all for now.  Have a lovely day (or night) and thanks for stopping by!  :-)

Inkspirational Challenge - Word Prompt - Splash

It's that time again, for another challenge over at Inkspirational!  It's a prompt word this time and that word is "Splash".  I don't know about you but when I hear the word splash I think of water.  Then I think of rain.  So that's what I went with for this challenge.  Take a look...

I stamped my cloud panel using an older Hero Arts stamp and trimmed it down to the size I wanted.  Then I added my dimensional stickers of the umbrella and raindrops (Sandylion).  I attached my panel to my white card base with foam dots and the stamped the sentiment (Paper Smooches, Eco Friendly set) in black.  Quite pleased with how this turned out.  Would be a good card to send someone who's feeling down in the dumps.  :-)

I hope you'll join me and the other gals in the fun.  We have a wonderful guest designer too.  Cinni of Handgemacht.  She's created a simply fabulous card.  The other DT members have some fantastic cards to inspire you as well.  It's mostly definitely worth a look!  :-)

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Less is More - be inspired by the song title "singing in the rain".
Addicted to Stamps and More - make a CAS card.
The Card Concept - it's an awesome colour challenge.  Check it out...
(I believe my card would fall under the category of clean and simple)

Well, that's all for me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Have a Sweet Summer

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far.  (For those who are in the middle of their winter, I'm sorry.  :-D ). So I've got a card to share today that was made for a few challenges.  CAS-ual Fridays is having a fun challenge they are calling "Summer Lovin' ".  They want to see summer colours and hearts.  So this is what I came up with...
**note**  shoot!  I missed the deadline for CAS-ual Fridays.  Oh well.  :-)

I used a heart shaped post it note as a mask and sponged pink, red and yellow around it.  I blended them some so it looks like there is orange too.  My sentiment is a combo of two.  The "have a" is a portion of a sentiment by Hero Arts and the "sweet summer" is a free digi by Neat and Tangled.  If you want to check out more of their free digis go HERE.  I trimmed them separately and coloured the edges with a yellow ink pad.  I attached them with some foam tape.  Then I added some tiny puffy heart stickers I had in my stash.  I got my design layout idea from this weeks CAS(E) This Sketch.  It's been forever since I've played along with them.  Look at the great sketch...

I'm also linking up to Addicted to Stamps and More where the challenge is to create a CAS card.

Now I'd like to take a quick moment to welcome some new followers.  First is Cynthia Makortoff.  She's my MIL and always very supportive of my card making endeavors.  Thanks Mom!  :-). Another follower through Bloglovin is Patricia Cockerham.  Welcome!  And last but not least, Rachel of Inky Fingers Are Me.  She's brand new to blogging so go over and check out her first post and give her a warm welcome!

One more thing I'd like to mention before I call it a day.  I'm celebrating my second blogiversary this month so something fun will be happening in the next few days.  Stayed tuned!

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!

Tis The Season

Just a quick post to link up my project with a few challenges.  Today I've got a cute little tag to share. I broke out the watercolour pencils to create this....

So, first I stamped my gingerbread man (Hero Arts) on my white tag and coloured him with my watercolour pencils.  I added some glitter to his hat and used a white gel pen to add white " frosted" lines to his arms. I cut out a larger green tag and attached the two tags together.  I stamped my sentiment (winter wonderland set by Recollections) on kraft paper and fussy cut it out and attached it to the tag.  I added the green and red ribbon and tied a bow with some more red ribbon.  It will be a great tag to put on a gift to someone this Christmas.  :-)

I'm linking up to the following challenges:
Jingles Belles - "Shopping Our Stash".  Use at least one item that is one year (or more) old.  Both my ribbon and my gingerbread stamp are over a year old.  So is the glitter.  The paper used was scraps too and could be that old as well!  :-)
Christmas Stampin' All Year Long - Anything Goes with a recipe.  2 CS (Christmas Stamp I assume), 1 image, 1 sentiment, 2 embellishments (I hope two types of ribbon count.  I wonder if the glitter does?).
Festive Friday - here's the inspiration photo

I was inspired by the colours and the gift tags on the presents.  Presents need gift tags!  I've got the glitter too just not gold.

Well that's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Guest Designer for Paper Crafting Challenges

Hi everyone!  Once again I'm guest designing for Paper Crafting Challenges and this time it's an "anything goes" challenge!  Those are the best aren't they?  I hope you will all join in on the fun!

**NOTE**. The anything goes challenge is over now.  There was a mix up over at the blog and my card didn't get posted.  It's a sweet colour combo challenge now that I still recommend you check out!

This time I decided to try a one layer card.  It took a couple of tries as I messed up a bit but I think it turned out pretty good.  Check it out...

So, I masked off my middle section and stamped with my flower stamp (from Eclectic Florals set by STAMPlorations) in Ruby Red SU! ink.  Using the same ink I stamped my dotted flourish (Inkadinkado) as well.  Then I masked off my top and bottom sections and sponged the same ink on the card base.  I added a white line with my white gel pen and ruler.  Then I stamped my sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  Now you might wonder why I did everything in red and white.  Well, I wanted to play along with One Layer Simplicity Challenge's theme which is to create a card using the colours of your home country's flag.  Since I'm Canadian it's red and white for me.  :-).  I rather like the red and white colours together.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hello everyone!  It's new challenge time over at Inkspirational and we've got a fun one for you.  This time it's an inspiration picture.  Check it out...

So it's totally up for interpretation and there's so much there to draw from!  You could go with the colours the whale, the boats, the hot air balloons or all of the above!  Any style is good too.  Just make sure to explain how your project ties in just in case its hard to tell.  :-). I decided to go with the balloons.  My card is super CAS and the colours are different but my hot air balloon stamp is totally the same style as the picture.  Kind of old fashioned.  Take a look..

The balloon stamp is by 7 Gypsies and the sentiment is by Fiskars.  I stamped the balloon three times in pink, yellow and orange.  Then the sentiment in black.  It quick and easy and one layer too!  I wanted to use some bright summery colours.

So, I hope you'll all come and play with us at Inkspirational.  My fellow DTeamies have created some fabulous projects so you need to pop on over and take a look!  :-)

I'm linking up to the following challenge:

Curtain Call - it's a birthday bash!  Check out the inspiration photo (which is where I got my colours).

Hope you all have a lovely day and thanks for visiting!
